What to expect?

“Safari” means journey – and that is what you should expect, a journey brimming with adventure, luxury, and, of course, exotic wildlife. Upon booking your safari with Christopher, you will receive lots of valuable information to help you prepare for the journey of a lifetime.

During your safari, you’ll experience comfortable beds, en-suite flushing toilets and hot showers. Fine dining includes special meals on request, along with a variety of excellent wines, spirits, soft drinks & Kenya coffee and teas.

But as this is an adventure of a lifetime, you must prepare for the unknown. This means arriving with an open mind, a patient demeanor, and a willingness to learn more about the day-to-day experiences of a majestic country. Christopher requires one thing of all the clients he takes on safari – respect for the Kenyan people, customs, culture, and – of course— wildlife.

Your wake up call starts with coffee or tea, and cookies. The best way to find some of the most elusive wildlife, is your crack of dawn game drives. Late afternoon drives may include sundowners, drinks in the bush. Back at camp you may join others around the campfire to share stories with drinks of your choice. Perhaps you’ll enjoy a hot shower, some relaxation time in your private luxury tent, before dining by candlelight. Most have very little trouble sleeping, even with the hippos serenading. After dinner you are escorted to you tent by Askaris (guards that watch over the camp at night).

Maasai Mara National Reserve

Maasai Mara is one of the most famous and important wildlife conservation and wilderness areas in Africa, world-renowned for its exceptional populations of lion, African leopard, cheetah and African bush elephant. It also hosts the Great Migration, which secured it as one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Africa, and as one of the ten Wonders of the World.

The Greater Mara ecosystem encompasses areas known as the Maasai Mara National Reserve, the Mara Triangle, and several Maasai Conservancies, including Koiyaki, Lemek, Ol Chorro Oirowua, Mara North, Olkinyei, Siana, Maji Moto, Naikara, Ol Derkesi, Kerinkani, Oloirien, and Kimintet.

There are a number of lodges and tented camps catering for tourists inside or bordering the Reserve and within the various separate Conservancies that border the main reserve. However, the main reserve is unfenced even along the border with Serengeti (Tanzania) that means there is free movement of wildlife throughout the ecosystem.
Maasai Mara is home to prolific wildlife year-round and game drives are the most popular activity in the Maasai Mara, but other activities include hot air ballooning, nature walks, photographic safaris and cultural experiences.
